About Drivers Education

BHM Community Education offers classroom instruction at Buffalo High School throughout the year including summer. We also offer summer sessions in Hanover and Montrose.  It is recommended students are age 15 by the last day of classroom instruction as this is the age the student needs to be to take the Written Knowledge Test. Don't wait until the deadline to register... classes fill quickly so early registration is encouraged.

The fee includes 30 hours of in-person quality classroom instruction with a BHM teacher, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel (BTW) instruction with a licensed teacher AND all classroom supplies and materials. The classroom portion of the fee is non-refundable. BTW instruction is offered year-round and is typically scheduled one-hour each month for six months, which allows time in-between for parent/guardian practice driving with the student. Once you have your permit, do not wait to schedule your first BTW instruction.

Driver’s Education is not funded by the State of Minnesota. Therefore, all costs are incurred by the family upon registering. (No discounts or scholarships are available for the driver education program.)
