Summer 2020 - The $360 fee for Drivers Education includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction and the parent Student Safety Meeting. Classes fill quickly, so register early!The June sessions of Driver's Education classroom will be held as a Distance Learning class. Attendance via video meetings each day will be mandatory. Students should be watching their school email for an invite to Google Classroom prior to the class start date. If your student is currently using a school issued device, they can continue to use this device for their driver's education class. If needed, the school district will provide a device to your student. Please contact Kim Carlson at kcarlson@bhmschools.org to request a device.*If allowed, the Parent and Student Safety Meeting will be held Wednesday, June 10, 6-8 pm at Buffalo High School in the PAC. Safe Communities of Wright County and Drivers Education staff jointly conduct the presentation. We strongly encourage a parent or guardian to attend this informative meeting with their son/daughter. (*If we can not gather, an alternate plan will be communicated).100% attendance is mandated by the State of Minnesota. One distance learning make-up session is scheduled Monday, June 22 10:30 am -1:30 pm. Tardies and/or absence from one class needs to be made-up. Students needing more than 3-hours of make-up time will be withdrawn and the student will need to repeat all thirty hours of classroom instruction. An additional $110 fee is required to repeat the classroom instruction. The classroom portion of the fee is non-refundable. Check for schedule conflicts prior to registering. The first class, June 8, must be attended.*The Instruction Permit Test may be offered by the MN Department of Public Safety at Buffalo High School in Room A103 on Thursday, June 25 at 8 am for students who are 15 years old by Thursday, June 25, 2020 and have successfully met all classroom requirements of the Summer 2020 class. (*Note: If the DMV is still not providing testing services at this time, the test will not be given. Students will simply go to a DMV test center on their own to take the test at their convenience once open.) Students not yet 15 years old will take their Written Instructional Permit Test at an exam station when they turn age 15. Their Blue Card, to take the Written Instructional Permit Test at an exam station, will be picked up at the Community Education Office when the student is ready to test.Questions, contact Community Education 763.682.8770.
