  • Come Explore a Galaxy Far, Far Away

    You will make your own pool noodle light sabers and a Grogu (aka Baby Yoda) art project. You’ll get to design a droid out of recycled materials and create your own Mandalorian helmet design. We will do a fun art project making your ship, a TIE fighter or X-Wing, flying through hyperspace. We will also explore your Star Wars knowledge with trivia, and have daily discussions about lessons we can learn about life on earth through Star Wars stories. (Sunshine Hedlund)

Bring a yoga mat and blankets where you can sit or lie down on the floor and allow yourself to immerse in the soothing vibrations. This is a great end of the day class that can reduce anxiety and stress and help facilitate a restful night sleep.

If attending the class from home, please include your email. The Zoom link will be emailed to you the day before the class.

    Have you played a Kahoot on the computer in class with your teacher to review what you’ve learned? Have you ever wondered HOW Kahoots are made or wanted to make one yourself? Kahoot is a free online learning platform where users can create their own quizzes on any topic. In this class, you will learn how to create Kahoot quiz questions.     Have you ever wanted a T-shirt with your very own design on it? Now’s your chance! Students will work to design their own custom T-shirt using digital graphic design tools. A professional screen-printing company will turn the design into a real-life T-shirt and ship it to your house! Experienced instructors will teach students how to run the software and guide them as they turn their visions into a reality!

During our Bison Preschool classes, children will experience large and small group activities that focus on language development, building social skills, pretend play, early academics including, early literacy, math, and writing skills. There are also opportunities for art, science, and outdoor play activities. Our preschool classes are taught by Licensed Early Teachers in partnership with Early Childhood Special Education teachers and are created for all children. Bison Preschool offerings include, Three, Four, and Five Day All Day Options Please Note: Parents are responsible for transportation to and from preschool. Unique Offerings: Bison Explore Nature Preschool This unique Bison Preschool option (Hanover Elementary and Montrose Early Education Center) provides children with all of the opportunities of a traditional preschool program with a Nature Inspired focus. Children will have access to indoor and outdoor learning opportunities. Join us as we learn more about the natural world and our place in it. Bison All Day Preschool This Bison Preschool option is designed for 4 and 5 year old children the year before Kindergarten. This offering will focus on building friendships, early academic skills, and routines similar to Kindergarten, including eating breakfast and lunch at school.   • Drivers Education

    A staff person is available at the Community Education office M-F, 8 am-330 pm (except holidays and some non-school days) to be assigned a behind-the-wheel (BTW) instructor, pick up your Blue card, etc. BHM Community Education offers classroom instruction throughout the year (Fall A: Sept/Oct), (Fall B: Oct/Nov), (Winter: Jan/Feb), (Spring A: Feb/March), (Spring B: April/May) and many sections during the summer. It is recommended students are age 15 by the last day of classroom instruction as this is the age the student needs to be to take the Written Knowledge Test. Don't wait until the deadline to register... classes fill quickly so early registration is encouraged. The fee includes 30 hours of classroom instruction, 6 hours of behind-the-wheel instruction with a licensed teacher AND all classroom materials. BTW instruction is offered year-round and is typically scheduled one-hour each month for six months which allows time in-between for parent/guardian practice driving with the student. Once you have your permit, do not wait to schedule your first BTW instruction. Driver’s Education is not funded by the State of Minnesota. Therefore, all costs are incurred by the family upon registering. (No discounts or scholarships are available for the driver education program.)
  • Drone Racing

    Students will learn how to fly like the pros in the Drone Racing League by training on a flight simulator. Once they learn the basics of flying, they’ll assemble their very own drone. After learning drone safety and maintenance, students take their drone to the skies and compete in numerous races and challenges. Led by experienced instructors, students will leave camp with the skills and knowledge to pilot their drones and keep them running.   • Engineering: Crazy Action Contraptions

    Unleash your imagination as you journey through the wide-ranging world of LEGO® building. Students work in pairs to build models and discuss the engineering science behind each. This fun, hands-on class shows students how engineering can be fun and silly yet still educational. Students will then be challenged to improve the model and customize their creations. Possible models include the never-look-back machine, skittletops, do-nothing machine, coat hanger daredevil, trapdoor cable car parachute machine, rubber band racer, balloon-powered car, and other crazy action contraptions

  • Fantastic Mr. Fox: Day Trip to Sidekick Theatre

    Mr. Fox is smart, clever and rather fantastic, but can he save his family and friends from a trio of spiteful, nasty, smelly farmers who are out to get them?
